Sometimes the only way you can get the card you want is to make it (or have it made for you) by hand. I was asked to make a birthday card for my friends daughter to give to her Grandad who she calls Granda.
I knew that the person it was for had his own boat so asked my friend if she had a picture of it, the following card is the one I made.
I used the Cathedral Background die in coconut white card which I laid over a rich red piece with an oval cut from the center. The greeting was created on my silhouette cameo using the white sketch pen and then I used the Expressions Ornate Frame – Just Because to mount it onto the card above a strip created with the border from the Scandinavian Collection – Corner, Border & Tag
First of all can I say welcome to all the people who have come to my blog from the SET craft Facebook page, its great to have you here 🙂
Today I have a card for you that shows you can use all those images from the CDs you have tucked away along with your brand new dies. I printed out a picture from one of my Humphries Corner CDs and used the Grace frame die to cut out the image. I used background paper and sentiments also printed from the CD to make up the card too. The Brighter Days die made a great frame for the central image, backed with some of the same backing paper. I finished off by cutting the “new baby” sentiment to fit onto the Pierced Flag die and placed stick on pearls in the corner.
…to everyone out there.
Today I have something for you that I havent done in quite some time, I have made a layout of my boys on new years eve. It was quite special this year as the boys stayed up to see in the new year with us for the first time.
I made the layout using Bo Bunny’s Block Party collection.
I just love these birds by Tim Holtz, they are so quirky. I made this card for my nephews birthday.
I used masks and colour cloud inks to create the background and distress inks to paint the birds and accessories. I used the dies to cut out the birds but had to cut the other bits by hand.
As a few of you may know, I like to watch shows on Create and Craft TV and last week was no exception. On Saturday, the lovely talented Kathryn Sturrock was doing a show with clay, I am so glad I recorded it because she made the cutest frog. I decided that I would have a go at recreating it and here is the result:
I realise he is a bit old looking as the clay had dried out a little bit but I think he is quite cute and not bad for a first attempt. I cant wait to get the cloud clay I ordered so I can see what the difference is between that and the Martha Stewart clay that I used here.
If you get the chance to see Kathryn demo then do watch as she explains things really well and does a really good job.

I didn’t really spend Christmas with Gina’s Designs as the title suggests lol, although thanks to the wonders of technology Gina and I did spend Christmas morning together 🙂
I have a layout for you today made using the new String Alongs in the store, embossed in separate areas using a versamark pen. It seems like forever since I did a physical scrapbook layout instead of a digital one and I really enjoyed making it!
Our boys decided to get us up at 5.15 am on Christmas Day morning, hence the title for the layout, I had the boys write onto some tags with an embossing pen which I then embossed with clear powder along with my own tag as well. When I put the layout together I created pockets for the tags by gluing down only tiny bits of the strip of paper that the tags sit behind, thus allowing the viewer to take out the tags a read the reverse (which explains the title!)
Ginas Designs String Alongs – Moon and stars
WOW embossing powder – red Glitz and clear
Papermania patterned papers
Versamark embossing pen and red embossing pen
It my Hubbies birthday today and I made him a card with my new Clarity stamp shape set, its the first time I tried making the clouds in the sky so it took me 3 attempts to get it how I wanted it but I am very pleased with the results.
This week on the SplodgeAway blog myself and my fellow DT members are sharing our favourite things to do with our masks, one of my favourites is using them with my Gelli plate.
The masks are great for this, they clean up really well afterwards too. The effects you can create with them are great with both first and second prints. Go on, have a go, its great fun, even your kids can have a go, but beware its messy and adictive!
Here is a card I made using the Hex-o-Star Mask and a topper from a CD by La Pashe.
