Today is the start of the SplodgeAway ‘Anything but a Card’ week and I am starting the week with this bird hanging
I used the SplodgeAway 6″x6″ Fancy Lattice Mask to make it along with some distress ink, an IndigoBlu stamp and a cutting file that my pal Gina made for the birds and the hearts. I decorated a couple of the hearts with my Martha Stewart clay.
Please pop over to the SplodgeAway Blog and see what the rest of the design team come up with for the rest of the week, I know you will be in for a treat.
Hello from a sunny Scotland (well it is whilst I am writing this post – bet it wont be when it goes out, but I can live in hope) Today is time for a new challenge over at the ABC challenge blog and I have made a fairly simple card using an element kit I am about to start selling. Our sponsor this fortnight is My Favourite Things who do a fabulous range of Die-namics dies amongst other things.
I’ve made this wall hanging to go into the fabulous Hels Sheridan’s challenge, the theme this time is Purple Haze, as it is my favourite colour I just had to have a go didn’t I?
I took inspiration from the hanging that Hel’s made on air last week on Create and Craft, it turned out a little more pink than I would have liked normally but then you have to go with what you have (it definitely said purple on the pot of paint!)
I used the mask that came with Ali Reeve’s DVD and some texture paste I bought in my local Lidl’s quite a while ago, I then painted with said purple paint and used a Cut and Dry sponge around the edges, The silver is distress paint and the sentiment comes from Personal Impressions Creative Thoughts set (one I go to over and over). I cut the flower out of some mount board with my new Big Shot (anniversary pressie from hubby – thanks Roddie)and tattered florals die, painted and stamped it with an indigo Blu script stamp (another “go to”). The butterflies are made from Martha Stewart paper clay and mold then painted with the same “purple” paint.
This week over on the SplodgeAway blog is SplodgeAway mat week and my fellow DT members are showcasing their use of the mat. I have my mat out pretty much all the time as there aren’t many things that I don’t use it for, it is just so versatile and helps you blend in so well. Here is a card I have made for my Sister in Law’s birthday (its ok, she doesnt read my blog – well not that I know of anyway!) I used my mat to brayer the background and then I used the blending tool and the mat to blend the inks on the topper. All the stamps except for the greeting are from Clarity Stamp Company.
I cannot believe that it is June 1st already, where has the time gone?? This time last year our lives changed forever with the loss of my Dad who left us far too early at the age of only 62. We still miss him, obviously, but if there is one thing I learned it is that life is too short and you only get one chance at it! With that in mind I was determined to try my hardest to get onto one or more design teams. Here I am now, a year later, on 2 challenge blog design teams and on the DT for a super company called Splodge Away that makes some wonderful products that are great fun to work with.
Around the same time, we started on the long road of trying to get a diagnosis for our son who we think has Asbergers (still on that long road but getting closer to an answer there). Whilst we don’t have a diagnosis as yet, or even bothered what the “label” is, we are finding it a lot easier to deal with his “quirks” and his special way of doing things. The same son has taken up playing the tin whistle and is loving it. Our younger Son has started with a local theater group and has just performed his first play, outside of school, in which he was a natural.
All in all I think we have had a year that Dad and Grandad would have been pleased with, I do believe he has been watching and is very proud of what we have all achieved.
I used one of my Gelli plate printed Backgrounds and an image from the Paper shelter called Spring Swing II
