Having a Smash*ing time

1st smash* Page Meatloaf

I have started my “about me” Junk Journal or Smash* book. I made my own book and it has been sat waiting patiently for me to put something in it. I finally got around to completing the first double page. I have several half done pages but this one I think is pretty much finished (unless I decide to add something which is a distinct possibility knowing me lol)

Here is the double page spread:

Karate kids in the house!

Karate Kids from Sandend Karate Club

Two very proud parents in our house due to our two boys gaining their blue belts in karate last weekend. It has only been a year since they got their 1st belt (red) so they have done really well.

Well done to the others as well, from left to right: Chelsea, Brook, Taylor, Grant, Phillip, Ryan, Ahren, Dominic, Abigail.

Male themed Mimic Creations Car card

Mimic Car with Union Jack

For this Swing style card I used just the car and the Union Jack from the Mimic Creations CD to make the topper and let the software make the backing paper for me. I cut the Cogs using my Spellbinders Sprightly Sprockets die. The card would be perfect for any man or teenager in your life, you know, the one who is always hard to make cards for.

Mimic Creations Marilyn Monroe card

This particular card inspired Hayley West to make a card on one of the first shows this week, I used a BCE Template but Hayley’s card was much more simple, I hope you didn’t miss the dimensions she used, She took a strip of card and folded each end in to the middle to create the “boxes” and the image was stuck in the middle where they met.

Patriotic Bunting

The union Jack on the Mimic Creations CD was crying out to be made into bunting. I used my Xcut dies for the inside and Geraldine lent me her scalloped dies for the layer on the back.

Here is a close up of the flowers I made with my Tim Holtz die to go on either end. I printed out the paper, cut them with the die and sprayed them with water to give them that tattered look.

Mimic Creations Motorbike

Here is a different card done with the Mimic creations CD. I took some of the elements and made my own picture which I then created the background using it. The holographic paper comes from the Holographic Glitteratze Card Pack, it just goes so well with all the images on this CD.

More Exciting News!

The A Team card

My cards are going to be on the TV!  This week’s pick of the week on Create and Craft TV is a CD with artwork by Mimic Creations and I was asked to make cards for the samples on the shows. Here is the first one I made:

The A Team card

The disk is so easy to use and the artwork is so fun to work with, you can create your own papers, inserts, envelopes etc with the images too.

This would be great for either of my Brothers, I remember them sitting down on a Saturday evening to watch the A Team and loving it!

More cards to come over the week so stay tuned.

Free as a Bird

Here is another ATC using the Urban Stamps from the Papermania Capsule Collection DVD, I just think they are great to work with as you can print them any size you like and then ink them up etc, you can change the colour of them in the program too so it looks like you have stamped them in different colour inks. The bird cage came from a bunch of die cuts that I got in my wonderful Christmas Cigar box that Chris sent me.

Zentangle ATC using 1 tangle

Zentangle ATC Betweed

Here is my first attempt at an ATC using just 1 pattern (well almost) I drew a random string and filled it all in with variations of the Betweed tangle

Matroshka Doll ATC

Matroshka ATC

This was a bit of an experiment but I am fairly pleased with the results. I took one of the urban stamps from the Papermania Capsule Collection DVD and inked it up using distress inks, then I put some Anita’s 3d Glaze on it and let it dry. Once dry I shaped the doll in order to crack the glaze a little. The background came from the same DVD  I think (got so many bits of paper lying around its hard to say!) I put the ink on my craft mat a spritzed it with water & dragged the card through it.
