Monthly Archives: February 2012
March 8 is International Women’s Day, and in many countries it is customary to exchange yellow flowers on that date. So, for this swap, we have to send each of our 3 partners a postcard which somehow incorporates a yellow flower.
I am really pleased with the way my postcard turned out, I have used a digi stamp from Just Inklined and coloured it with copics and it is on a digi background so that it is flat. (apologies for the slightly blurred photo – it’s a bit dull here today)
Another swap over at Swap bot called for a card featuring a white Owl. For this card I created the background using Cosmic Shimmer watercolours, then added some gems for stars and some of my modeling paste for the moon. The owl is coloured with copics and stuck on with pinflair to give it a bit of dimension.
Today I have actually made a birthday card, my boys are off to a friend’s birthday on Sunday (he was actually born on Feb 29th) so they needed a card for him. What do you make for an 8-year-old boy??? I had this image in my stash, although I can’t remember where he came from I’m afraid but he was perfect for what I wanted. He is coloured with Copics and the paper is from DCWV All about boys paper stack. I have put him into this fortnights challenge at ATCs and cards with attitude
The theme for the March ATC swap at Crafty Ideas by Kaz is Fairies so I finally got around to using this image from Victoria Case which she kindly gave away on her Facebook page. Isn’t she just wonderful. I coloured her with copics and mica paints, although you cant see it on the picture, her wings have a shimmer to them. I have also put this in for ATCs and Cards with Attitude this fortnight.
The challenge over at Wicked Wednesday ATC challenge this week is Words or quotes, how perfect is this ATC I was working on. I used one of the new masks that I had made for Cullen Crafts (look out for them in the shop soon) with some modeling paste. I was so impatient for it to dry that I took my heat gun to it which produced the really cool texture as it all bubbled up. The rabbit is from The Next Big Thing cd from La Pashe and coloured with Copics.
I have made 2 colourful artist trading cards for a swap over at Swap Bot this time we had to use patterns from the tangle patterns site that begin with the letter F. I chose to add a little colour using some new pens that I got.
This fortnight’s entry for ATCs and cards with attitude too 🙂
Look at what happens when you pop in to your local craft shop for something, you end up getting involved in what the owner is doing and feel inspired to come home and create something lol. Thanks Ger!
The theme over at ATCs & Cards with attitude this fortnight is Flowers which fitted in very nicely with a swap I am taking part in over at Swap Bot called ATC Flower series #4 – Sunflower.
For this card I brayered the background with distress ink after having stamped the word Sunshine using a versamark pen. The sunflower was coloured using the same inks and comes from a stamp set in the Papermania signature range. The inks used were Mustard Seed, Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade.
Simple but effective I think.
I’ve been having another play with my Tinkering with Steampunk CD from My Craft Studio and I have made a book with my Bind it All to hold my Zentangle Pattern steps. I painted some thick card (the packaging my Martha Stewart board came in) with black acrylic paint, once that was dry I added gold paint with a fairly dry brush to give it the antique look. I printed off some paper from the CD and made up the rosette with it and the tag is also from the CD.
Next I made a valentines card for hubby (its ok he doesn’t read my blog) This was pretty much a print – cut out and stick, all I added was some Kraft card and some tickets made using the Kanban stamps.
